In many organizations cross-functional leadership is a challenge. But what does it take to lead across the business – not only when we work with a common strategic direction, but also in day-to-day operations? In this short video, I share three suggestions on what is needed to ensure successful leadership across functions: 1. We must ensure a common direction and have goals that require cooperation and joint accountability - where it makes sense. 2. Structure builds culture. There is a need for a working rhythm and meeting spaces for cross-functional coordination and prioritization in daily work. 3. Leading and collaborating across the business is also about the mindset with which we approach the task. We must have a common understanding of good leadership looks like in the business and as leaders we must dare to take chances and put some skin in the game to succeed.
